THEO (Last Man Standing - Book 9) by Author Suzanne Winslow **Book Birthday**

Welcome to Romance Sweet Reads. Today, we’ll share the ninth book in a brand new, sweet, contemporary romance series. Last Man Standing, written by fourteen best-selling and award winning authors, is a collection of stories about stubborn men who insist they’ll never be caught in the “marriage trap”. It’s also about the fourteen women who will change their minds. Every book in the series is a standalone, linked only by the series premise. Come on along as we watch the mighty fall... in love that is!

We continue with, THEO, Book 9 in the series, by Author Suzanne Winslow.

Theo Thomas chose his aviation career over love. A confirmed bachelor, he’s the last unmarried man among his closest peers. When a Southern California heat wave coincides with a power outage, he’s forced to his friends’ house. He’s surprised to discover their house sitter is the woman who’d forged his opinion on marriage seventeen years ago.

Chief Information Officer Emma Wilson never gave up on love, but try as she might, she hasn’t found anything close to what she felt for Theo—despite hard feelings on both sides. When a new job takes her back to California, she dreads the possibility of seeing him again. So of course, fate lands him right on her doorstep.

As grudges fade and resentment slowly turns to forgiveness, Theo sees life offering him a second chance, but Emma isn’t a starry-eyed girl anymore. She’s a woman who knows her worth and, this time, Theo will have to fight for what he wants.

Available exclusively on Kindle Unlimited

A familiar, unexpected voice asked, “Is everything okay?”

Theo’s heart punched in his chest. “Emma?”

“Theo?” Her sharp tone clearly told him she held him responsible for what was happening.

Officer Perez narrowed his eyes at Theo. “Do you two know each other?”

He couldn’t believe she’d called the cops on him. Or, maybe he could. “Her name’s Emma Wilson. She knows the people who live here too.”

“How many people have keys to this house?”

Theo shrugged. At least one more than he knew about.

A few seconds passed before Emma came outside ahead of the other police officer. She wore an emerald green bikini, a silver naval piercing, and pale pink polish on her toes. Her hair was shorter and straighter than he remembered. It was pulled back into a ponytail the same chestnut brown as the eyes that still occasionally featured in his dreams. As she got a little closer, he looked away, but not before glimpsing more of her than he had seen in a very long time. She stopped short a few feet away, clicking her fingernails, avoiding eye contact with him too. He didn’t blame her. Not after what he’d said the last time they were together. They hadn’t spoken since. Last he knew, she was an IT director in Detroit. Oliver usually told him when she was coming to California, but not this time. When their eyes finally met, she folded her arms over her stomach, trying to cover herself. All the movement did was show off her cleavage. His eyebrows lifted at her futile effort.

She glared at him.

Perez frowned. “Is everything okay?”

Theo answered yes the same time as Emma.

“Okay, then.” Perez held out his hand. “Let’s see your driver’s licenses.”

Suzanne Winslow writes the kind of stories she loves to read—contemporary romance with relatable characters, unsung heroes and heroines, and true-to-life stories. Nurses, teachers, firefighters, and Marines top her list of champions. Give her a book about strong, brave characters with hidden vulnerabilities and a secret passion, and she’ll binge read to the end!

Suzanne and her husband call Upstate New York home. When she’s not reading or writing, she’s often planning a road trip, or if it’s summertime, hanging out at the lake. Connecting with readers through Instagram, Facebook, and newsletters is a favorite pastime.

You know who he is... the confirmed bachelor. The fellow who claims no woman will ever tempt him enough to succumb. Cupid will never hit his mark.

JACE (Last Man Standing - Book 8) by Author Kandice E. Geddes **Book Birthday**

Welcome to Romance Sweet Reads. Today, we’ll share the eighth book in a brand new, sweet, contemporary romance series.

We continue with, JACE, Book 8 in the series, by Author Kandice E. Geddes.

When she ran, she ran away with his heart...

Jace Corbin has never been able to get over his runaway bride. Andi Reed, the sister of his best friend, is the only woman he’s ever loved. When she left him at the altar on their wedding day and never explained why, he quickly closed his heart off to ever loving again. Love was just a myth, something that was only further confirmed on the day of his parent’s divorce.

He now prides himself in his bachelorhood and in his position as a pediatric doctor. Even as his friends get married one by one, he’s not swayed to leave behind his single status. But after his friend asks him to be his best man at his wedding, he knows there’s no way he’ll be able to avoid Andi. And being double-booked in the same cottage with her wasn’t what he had in mind either. He's determined to keep her at arm’s length though and be the one running this time. But a sudden snowstorm has other ideas.

Will Jace be able to keep his heart unattached, or will he finally find a way to open himself back up to love?

Available exclusively on Kindle Unlimited

Jace hurried up the steps to the last cottage on the right. This was it. He'd made it. At least… he thought it was the right cottage. He squinted at his keycard, barely able to make out the number with only the dim light of the crescent moon shining above. Number 12. Yep. It matched the number beside the door.

He ran a hand through his hair and shook off the snow clinging to the strands across his forehead. It was really starting to come down now, and with his sluggish, tired body, he could only feel grateful that he’d made it to his destination in one piece.

The door to the cottage creaked as Jace pushed it open. He cringed at the sound. Oiling hinges had suddenly become the first thing on his to-do list in the morning. He flipped on a light, gaping as he glanced around the interior of the front room. Was this a joke? Had the 1970s gotten sick and traveled through time to throw up all over the inside of the cottage? Maybe his best friend thought he had an affinity for the Brady Bunch?

The carpet was an orange shag with a green love seat situated in the middle. The lamps on either side of the couch were gold with brown fringe draping from the shades. The ceiling was the same popcorn texture he’d had in his room as a kid and the walls were covered with dark brown paneling that reminded him of his grandma’s basement.

“Wonderful,” he groaned as he dropped his heavy bag on the floor. The room even smelled musty and old like no one had taken the time to air it out in the last fifty years. Oh, well. He’d only be living here during the weeklong events of the wedding. He didn’t need to feel as if he was staying in a five-star luxury hotel.

Jace sighed and moved toward the adjoining kitchen. The chipped green sink and the lack of a dishwasher didn’t make him feel any better. At least this cottage was staying consistent with its retro vibe. He planned to let Wyatt know in no uncertain terms that he didn't appreciate his sense of humor, but that could wait until morning.

Jace loosened his tie and turned toward the hallway, his fatigue getting the better of him. Now, he could only pray that the bed wasn’t decades old with vermin living in it. But before he could take a single step to seek out the bedroom, a door opened at the end of the hall. A bright light splashed across the carpet and wall, steam billowing out behind it. His muscles tightened as someone stepped out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel. He blinked once then twice, instantly recognizing the dark-haired woman—the same dark-haired woman who’d left him at the altar five years before.

He swallowed, the heart he thought was long dead surprised him by suddenly sprinting back to life. What the devil was she doing in his cottage? Were they double-booked? “Andi?”

Andrea Reed—the only person he’d wanted to avoid during the week—turned with a start and screeched, instantly covering a hand over herself before bolting back into the bathroom and slamming the door behind her.

“I don’t know who you are,” she screamed through the thin door, “but you better get out of here before I call the cops!”

Same old demanding Andi. It was nice to see that some things hadn’t changed. But had she honestly not recognized him? What would she think after she found out that the man she loathed was likely sharing her living quarters? Nausea swirled through his stomach. Oh, yes, Wyatt had a lot of explaining to do.

“Andi…” he breathed, his voice coming out deep and scratchy, her name sounding foreign on his lips after he’d refused to say it over the last half-decade. “It’s just me… Jace.”

Kandice Geddes was born and raised beside the red hills of St. George, Utah. She discovered her love of writing as a small child and began creating stories about mermaids falling for dashing princes. Thank you, Disney. And it only continued from there.

She graduated from Southern Utah University with a track scholarship in Elementary Education and taught 1st Grade for four years.

While living in northern Colorado, she rediscovered her love of writing, especially within the world of sweet romance, and has been pursuing it ever since.

Some of her other loves are: reading, drawing, sugar cookies, watching Disney movies (shocker I know), and spending time with her swoony husband and two highly spirited boys.

FLETCHER (Last Man Standing - Book 7) by Author Katrina Kylie **Book Birthday**

Welcome to Romance Sweet Reads. Today, we’ll share the seventh book in a brand new, sweet, contemporary romance series.

We continue with, FLETCHER, Book 7 in the series, by Author Katrina Kylie.

Fletcher can set a trap for wolves, grizzlies, and skunks, but can he avoid the wily schemes of a meddling baby sister determined to end his bachelorhood once and for all?

Working for the Forest Service hasn't exactly honed Fletcher's people skills. He's alone eleven months of the year, and the twelfth, well, he yearns for the solitude of his wilderness home. Relationships just aren't high on his priority list, and what sort of woman would go for his type of lifestyle anyway?

Those objections don't matter a whit to Fletcher's younger sister, a dating coach by trade. One by one, Reagan has helped her friends and family members find success with love. When she sets her heart on finding a match for her winsome brother, no one will stand in her way. Despite Fletcher's conviction that bachelorhood is the life for him, can he convince Reagan and remain the last man standing?

Available exclusively on Kindle Unlimited

Fletcher stooped to pick up the shovel he’d tossed just off the single-track path through the forest earlier.

“You know, maybe you oughta take your sister’s advice and jump back into the dating pool. Ladies love a pretty face.”

As a professional dating coach, Reagan would be absolutely giddy if Fletcher approached her about dating. Close friend that he was, Curtis took every opportunity to remind him.

“This might be news for you, Curt, but not everybody has their sights set on marriage. Meaning me. The fact an obnoxious guy caught the attention of a female is pretty miraculous. Meaning you.”

“You don’t know what you’re missing out on, Fletch,” Curtis pressed. “If there’s anything I could say that would get you to pull your head out of the sand and see all the happiness you’re missing out on, tell me what it is. I want you to have what I’ve found with Christine.”

“Listen, I can appreciate your advice, but this is all I need.” Fletcher swept an all-encompassing hand over their scenic mountain surroundings. “I’ll be your best man but that’s as close as I’ll ever get to the altar.”

Turning to resume his work digging up jagged rocks from the path, Fletcher could feel his friend’s gaze on his back. “Famous last words,” Curtis grumbled.

Katrina Kylie is a Utah, USA native who loves all things horses, chocolate, and romance. She and her husband claim four rambunctious kids, a puppy, and six chickens. You can expect a sweet happily-ever-after from each of her books.

Katrina also writes sweet historical romance under her real name, Krystal M. Anderson.

GAVIN (Last Man Standing - Book 6) by Author Kathryn Hills **Book Birthday**

Welcome to Romance Sweet Reads. Today, we’ll share the sixth book in a brand new, sweet, contemporary romance series.

We continue with, GAVIN, Book 6 in the series, by Author Kathryn Hills.

Sometimes making waves is the only way to chart your true course.

Gavin Hart’s intentions are noble. He’s putting all his energy and every penny he’s got into the marine science education program he devised with his grandmother, a world-renowned environmentalist from Cape Cod. Big boat, special equipment, and a crew of salty characters—everything is ready to launch. All he needs is the backing of his influential family. Turns out that’s the one thing he won’t get—unless he agrees to settle down and marry the woman of their choosing. A self-proclaimed bachelor for life, he’s never been tempted. That is until he meets Sophie.

High school science teacher Sophie Martin is only subbing in town for a few months. Yet the allure of the Cape—its nautical charm and off-season ambiance—has her wishing she could stay longer. Not to mention she’s falling for a local man with a heart of pure gold. They have a lot in common, including a passion for inspiring young minds. Too bad her days there are numbered. Plus, her boyfriend back home is hinting at a ring. Should she return to her previous life? Or is she brave enough to upend everything and take a risk on a man she barely knows?

Available exclusively on Kindle Unlimited
Also available in Print

Students spilled out into the hallway, and Sophie followed, shutting off lights, and locking the door behind them.

Laura Adams—her best friend and fellow teacher—sauntered up beside her. “Fancy meeting you here, Ms. Martin,” the sassy woman teased. “Well, tell me, how was your first week teaching high school science?”

The two women walked together toward the gymnasium, dodging teenagers, flung-open locker doors, backpacks, and sporting gear.

“I was nervous at first, but now I’m much more confident. The kids are all great.”

“Hey, hey, hey, no running in the halls,” Laura bellowed at a group of boys, speeding past them, shoving one another. She glanced Sophie’s way, instantly switching gears. “Some of us are going out tonight. You should come. I’ll introduce you to some nice guys. We’re meeting at the Galley Hatch.”

At first, the invitation appealed to Sophie, yet the idea of being introduced to “nice guys” made her balk. Laura was a notorious matchmaker, and that was the last thing she needed. “I shouldn’t. I promised my aunt I’d spend time with her since I’ve been gone all week. I think she’s having a hard time adjusting to being alone all day again. She keeps talking about adopting a cat or a talking bird.”

“Oh. Bummer. Offer stands if you can get away. Text me, and I’ll save you a seat.”

They entered the gym together and lingered in the double doors.

“Impressive,” Sophie said, adding a sigh of relief when she saw her class wasn’t climbing the walls. “Nice turnout of exhibitors.”

Laura casually looked around. “You should check it out since it’s your first time. Make the rounds with your kids.”

“I think I will.” Sophie went to leave, yet she ran smack into someone rushing past them with a box.

“Whoa! So sorry,” the person was quick to say.

She stepped back, and her gaze fell upon the one person she never expected to see up close and personal. “You,” she said in disbelief.

Hunky boat guy tipped his dark-haired head. “Do I…know you?”

The smooth, masculine sound of his voice washed over her like a warm summer wave. Sophie blinked up at him, her mortified expression reflected in his mirrored sunglasses. She opened her mouth, but nothing came out.

“Miss… Are you okay?” A sexy little smile turned his lips.

Surprised laughter bubbled out of Laura. “Who’s this?”

The man set his box down and removed his shades.

Both women gaped.

Crystal blue eyes. Stark against his suntanned skin.

“Gavin Hart. I’m exhibiting today. Well, I’m supposed to be. As per usual, I’m late. Can either of you ladies help me find my table?”

“Sophie will,” Laura blurted out, and she gave Sophie a little shove in his direction.

Gavin’s smile widened showing bright white teeth. “Excellent. Thank you, Sophie.”

She spun and narrowed her gaze on Laura. “What about my kids?”

Laura shrugged. “They’re fine. You’re fine. This man is obviously fine.”

Hauntingly romantic… Unless she’s writing sweet!

The rich history and many mysteries of New England are the perfect backdrop for many of KATHRYN’s books. Winding roads lined by old stone walls, forgotten cemeteries, grand homes with shadowy pasts...all sparks for her imagination. Whether it’s a quaint seaside town or the vibrant city of Boston, it’s easy for this “hauntingly romantic” author to envision the past mingling with the present. No surprise, some of Kathryn’s favorite stories include ghosts! Sprinkle in some magic, and you’re off on a great adventure.

When not writing, this best-selling author is reading, researching, gardening, or cooking up something special in her chaotic kitchen. She shares her colonial home in the north woods with those she loves most – her wonderful husband, daughter, and three crazy dogs.

GENTRY by Author Caroline Clemmons

Today it is my pleasure to welcome friend and author, Caroline Clemmons, to the blog. We'll be getting a wonderful sneak peek at her new release, GENTRY, part of the Texas Hill Country Mail Order Brides series.

Nothing much riles Gentry McRae. He works hard on the ranch he co-owns with his immigrant best friend, and is content with his life. He’s proud of all they’ve accomplished in the ten years since the war. That is, until his partner dies and leaves a fourth of the ranch to his mail-order bride—and wills the bride to Gentry. “Now just a doggone minute, I don’t plan to marry for years!” But, a single woman can’t reside on a ranch where four men live without ruining her reputation. What’s a good man to do, except marry the woman when she arrives?

Heidi Roth has been spurned for being too plainspoken and too tall. In addition, her sister constantly makes fun of her for those reasons. That’s why—with many doubts—she’s willing to travel for months from Germany to Texas to marry a man who once lived in her town. When she arrives, she learns her prospective groom is dead, but left her his share of a ranch. She has serious doubts, but agrees to wed Gentry to protect her reputation. Sure enough, from the next day, one event after the other happens to complicate her life.

Available exclusively on Kindle Unlimited

“If there’s anything you need from town before Saturday, tell me now.”

She shook her head. “I just want to be where my surroundings are not moving.”

He clicked the reins and they turned onto a road that ran beside a river. “I can understand that. Although I don’t remember when exactly you started your trip, I know you traveled a long time to get here. How long since you left home?”

“Over three months, but it seems much longer. Usually, I am not one to complain or get bored, but I found traveling so long very tiresome. Perhaps it is different if one is on a luxury ocean vessel, but I was on a smaller, very plain ship crossing the Atlantic. In New York, I changed to one even smaller to take me here. Being confined soon bored me, but I never tired of watching the sea.”

He chuckled. “I hope you saw your fill because there are only creeks and this river.”

She thought she should reassure him she was content with this setting. “The river is pretty. I do prefer being on land to sailing on a ship in all kinds of weather.”

He looked at her and raised his eyebrows. “Did you come through storms?”

“Mostly we had good weather. Several rains kept us in our staterooms. One terrible storm blew us off course and delayed the trip. That one terrified me and the other passengers. I was certain we would sink.” The memory sent shivers down her spine. She rubbed her arms, hoping to push away the fear she had felt.

“I’m glad you survived and arrived here in Harrigan’s Springs.”

His comment surprised her. Even if he was not sincere, hearing him speak the nice words boosted her spirits. “That is a kind thing to say. Thank you.”

They rode in silence for quite a while. He appeared concentrating on the road ahead, but surely he had driven this so many times he could do it easily. Besides, the horses probably knew the way.

“You didn’t tell me how Johann died.”

“He tried to rope a longhorn bull, but it gored him then stomped on him before we could rescue Joe.” He scrubbed a hand across his face as if wiping away something. “I’ll never forget that scene. I see it again and again in nightmares.”

“What is a longhorn bull?”

“I’m surprised you didn’t see some from the stagecoach. In a few minutes you’ll see some longhorns grazing. You’ll know them when you see them. The one that gored Joe had six foot horns.”

She gasped, imagining what horns that long could do to a person. She couldn’t picture such an animal. She wished her Texas books had illustrations.

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To compensate for this illogical error, she writes about handsome heroes, feisty women, and scheming villains in a tiny office surrounded by research books and mementos. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd indoors on their two cats and two dogs as well as providing nourishment outdoors for squirrels, birds, and other critters.

The over sixty books she has created have made her a Top 100 Amazon historical author, a bestselling author, and won awards. She writes sweet to sensual romances, both historical and contemporary as well as time travel and mystery. In addition to her series she has written single titles and contributed to multi-author series and box sets. When she’s not writing, she loves spending time with her family, reading her friends’ books, dining in restaurants, browsing antique malls, delving into genealogy, checking Facebook, and taking the occasional nap.

ALONSO (Last Man Standing - Book 5) by Author Allison Wells **Book Birthday**

Welcome to Romance Sweet Reads. Today, we’ll share the fifth book in a brand new, sweet, contemporary romance series.

We continue with, ALONSO, Book 5 in the series, by Author Allison Wells.

Love is a bad word according to news producer Alonso Ortiz. So is the name Piper Campbell. He’s determined to avoid both until the latter becomes his new partner and on-air talent at Action News.

The name Alonso is a curse in the mind of Piper Campbell. After leaving her cheating fiancĂ© and arriving for a new reporter position at Action News, she’s cursing the name even more when she realizes her old nemesis is now her producer.

Daggers and sparks fly as these two do their best to remain icy toward one another despite the growing heat between them. Can they work together and keep it strictly business? Or, will the last man standing fall for the woman he once loathed?

Available exclusively on Kindle Unlimited

Piper Campbell was back in Savannah. And I would be babysitting her for the foreseeable future. I walked into work Monday afternoon and was greeted by a name plaque on Jennifer’s old desk that read Piper Campbell in a clear, professional font. There could only be one Piper Campbell at Action News. I swallowed hard and prayed that there was some other young reporter with that name.

Hadn’t she moved somewhere up north? I had mostly lost track of her after I graduated from SCAD, but the alumni newsletter had said something about her getting a reporter position in another state a few years ago.

If the people at work thought I was goofy and disorganized now, they hadn’t seen anything compared to me in college. I partied too hard, I talked too loud, it was a miracle I had graduated at all.

I graduated a semester late, but I graduated. Piper and I interned at Action News together and shared a handful of classes. She, for whatever reason, hated me. Which was fine, because I thought she was a stuck-up snob in school. An extremely sexy and well put together snob, but still.

Despite her snobbery, I had nursed a crush on Piper Campbell for the two years I knew her in college. She was poised and organized and sure of her place in the world. I was chaotic, loud, and as unconfident as one got. When we got the internships at Action News together, I had been thrilled. Until I nearly ruined her career over a stupid prank.

Allison Wells is a wife, mother, and sweet tea addict. Allison writes in two genres - Christian Women's FIction and Sweet Romance. She writes what she calls "gritty Christian fiction," books that show the hard truths of life but ultimately are stories of redemption in the end. Her sweet romances are clean and fun with a dose of laughter (the best medicine). She loves to bring a word of hope to readers worldwide. Her motto is, "Life is short, eat the Oreos."

You know who he is... the confirmed bachelor. The fellow who claims no woman will ever tempt him enough to succumb. Cupid will never hit his mark.

Well, guess what? We’ve got fourteen feisty heroines who are about to change their minds.
