Orphaned as a young girl, Ella longs for a life she’s only read about in books. To escape a desperate situation, she heads west as a mail-order bride, narrowing her choice of spouse to three brothers, a millwright, a businessman, and a horse trainer, all searching for a marriage of convenience which will provide the inheritance that will finance the family’s business venture in Oklahoma.
Newspapers claim the unchartered territory is a land where streams flow with milk and the heavens rain down a supply of honey. Will her road lead to the Promised Land?

Merle chuckled. “This could take months but more likely years.”
“There is certainly no rush. You could still proceed with life as normal, go about your plans for the land run, stake your claim, and if you find yourself married even years later, the money will be available at that time.” His father leaned forward. “However, if all three of you complete the first step, you will earn an initial bonus.”
“How much of a bonus?” Henry’s brow furrowed. “If I’m taking on a wife, that’s an extra expense. She might be wanting doodads and fancy dresses, and I have a mill to build.”
“The attorney will be here this afternoon to go over all the details. But the good news for your mill is that after the first is married, the additional funds for all the projects will be available.” J.R. Bolton lifted his cup in a toast.
“This is already more trouble than it’s worth.” Merle pulled on his ear. “But let me make sure I understand. We receive a portion of the money just by applying with this matchmaker?”
“Yes, that is true.” The deep chuckle emitting from his father’s chest caused Merle’s brow to furrow. Is my father laughing because the entire idea is ridiculous? Something tells me the old man is up to something.
Kimberly Grist is married to her high school sweetheart, Nelson, a former teacher and coach, now a pastor. They have three adult sons, one with Down syndrome, and they have a passion for encouraging others with family members with special needs.
As a young girl, I enjoyed making up stories to make people laugh. But in reality, I wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder of Little House on the Prairie fame. The problem is I was born in the wrong century. My stories are designed to entertain, refresh, and encourage you, the reader. They combine History, Humor, and Romance, emphasizing Faith, Friends, and Good Clean Fun.
Oklahoma’s Land Runs began on April 22, 1889. There would be five land runs with the last one taking place on May 23, 1895. Each book in the series is set around one of these land runs.
